The Waters Edge Cafe, Lytham St Anne’s 23/8/16

Another Tuesday where the sun was shining, we decided to take a bit of a drive again, this time to Lytham St Anne’s.

We couldn’t decide between Lytham or Lytham St Anne’s but Edie decided it for us by falling asleep in the car just as we got close to Lytham so we drove on for a bit longer!

I’ve never been up this way before, apart from a gig once in Blackpool. I really enjoyed being back on the coast as I grew up in a seaside town back in Somerset.

We decided to have a walk along the prom, not far from the pier there was a paddling pool so we gave Edie a splash about, without getting myself soaked. Such a great thing to have for the kids, especially in the sunny weather 🌞

On we go as it was feeding time at the zoo, it was always a nightmare trying to decide where to stop with Kaya, trying to find somewhere I’d feel comfortable feeding her. I’ve chilled out about it second time round so we stopped at pretty much the first cafe we saw.

They had some outside seating that looked out towards the sea and next to a small boating lake with pedalos and zorbing balls. It was a scorcher of a day but no parasols over the tables. I’d packed Kaya’s umbrella as shade just in case β˜‚

It was your standard seaside Cafe food on the menu which was fine by us, Dan had a bacon barm, I had my usual toastie and Edie a teacake. I grabbed a Mocha and a fizzy drink for Dan.

They had a choice of highchair! Bonus points for that πŸ˜„ so we got the Ikea Antilop rather than the wooden one. They had quite a few highchairs too. There were plenty of seats inside and outside the cafe, probably not much space for a buggy inside but there was outside. The chairs had arms on so all good for feeding baby comfortably.

They said there was a wait for food when I ordered at the counter but it actually didn’t take that long. Toastie was good, as was the Bacon Barm but my Mocha was a bit to sweet for my taste and I like a sweet coffee.

You needed to get a key for the toilet which is understandable on the beach but they didn’t have baby changing 😞 a shame because there was space. One of the staff directed us to a baby change a small walk up the beach instead.

This cafe was child friendly enough but would have been better if they had baby change.

Either way it was lovely sitting out in the sun with a beautiful view while we had our lunch β˜•πŸ΄

We carried on our walk, grabbed the obligatory ice cream🍦and tried to hide it from Edie without success πŸ™ˆ they had a fab looking play area for the kids and also a ride on train πŸš‚

We wandered along the pier and stopped for a drink at the cafe, thinking we had all the time in the world. By the time we had messed about with Edie, drank our drinks and changed her bum we were running pretty late to get Kaya from nursery, eeek.

Luckily we were only 5 mins late in the end. Next time we’ll take you with us Kaya, promise xx
