After a couple of days in the house for Christmas it was time for some fresh air, the girls had colds unfortunately but it was worth the risk on a lovely crisp winter day. It was also Auntie Re’s last day in Manchester so the last chance to see her before she left for Bristol.
By the time we got out of the house it was nearly lunchtime so opted for a park with a cafe, I pretty much always opt for a park with a cafe though 😂
Alexandra Park is a great park with everything you need in short walking distance, on street parking near the entrances, two play areas and obviously – a cafe, run by Teahive.
First up the park playground, it’s geared up for the smaller kids and a great little area for them to run about safely. We were not in the play area long as the girls were not particularly up for it, a quick look at the ducks and then into the warm. The cafe is spacious but was a lot bigger than the last time I visited, they’d opened it up even more and the play area was now very sizable indeed. Plenty more to play with, mats, cushions and books, loads to keep the little’uns busy.
Auntie Re and Daddy were not too hungry so Hot Chocolate for them, Mocha for me. I ordered a kids picnic box which consisted of a kids sarnie, a drink (Cawston Press) and a freshly baked cookie. For me, my standard cheese and ham toastie. I’m so predictable!
They’ve loads of IKEA Antilop highchairs here so no problems there. We didn’t use the baby change today but there is one in the disabled toilet, unisex for Mum’s and Dads to change those bums.
The drinks were lovely and much needed on a chilly day, the toastie came with some very nice salad, the picnic box was a hit with Kaya but for once Edie was not interested. Too tired and full of snot – poor lil sausage.
The service was a little slow and my Mocha was nearly forgotten was forgotten but there were a few customers that all came in at the same time.
The play area, yummy food, facilities and location of this cafe more than make up for that.
Top notch park cafe 🌲🌳🍃☕
